It’s the end of an era. The Sundance Film Festival is moving out of Utah. After nearly 50 years between Park City and Salt Lake City, the iconic film festival will be moving to Boulder, Colorado. From Utah to Colorado
The State of Utah is wishing a fond farewell to the Sundance Film Festival. Since 1978, the event has been a hallmark of the film industry. Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah have been home to the event from the start. But despite local efforts to retain the event’s presence in Utah, Sundance is wrapping things up and saying ‘goodbye.’ Starting in 2027, the Sundance Film Festival will be relocating to Boulder, Colorado.
The Final Utah Sundance Film Festival
After nearly 50 years, the Sundance Film Festival is moving out of Utah and to Colorado. The latest Utah Sundance Film Festival will take place January 22, 2026 thru February 1, 2026. According to a public letter announced by the director of Sundance Film Festival, Eugene Hernandez, the events will take place across Park City and Salt Lake City, with online screenings available for viewing availability from January 29th thru February 1st.
Park City venues include Eccles Theatre, Holiday Village Cinemas, Library Center Theatre, Library Center Theatre, The Ray Theatre, Redstone Cinemas and The Yarrow Theatre. Salt Lake City venues include Broadway Centre Cinemas and Rose Wagner Performing Arts Centre.
