The votes are in and the winners of the Lighthouse International Film Festival have been announced! Jeffrey Ikahn, American Filmmaker and Film Director, was honored by the opportunity to watch exclusive screenings of the films from the festival. With the winners announced, Ikahn reflects on his favorite films from this year’s Lighthouse on the majestic shores of Long Beach Island:

This year’s Lighthouse International Film Festival was full of eccentric films by some of the most creative directors and visionary filmmakers in the indie space. Screening narratives, documentary features, darkhouse, TV & web series, shorts and much more, Lighthouse International is versatile — to say the very least. Jeffrey Ikahn, American Filmmaker, appreciates the unique array of mediums screened at the film festival. Truly a grassroots filmmaking / indie ordeal, Lighthouse embodies independent ideals. And that’s what Ikahn is guided by, professionally, creatively and in life.
Narrative Features
According to the bigwigs at the Lighthouse International Film Festival, the best narrative film was River Returns by Masakazu Kaneko. The panel of Lighthouse International members also gave a special mention to A Simple Machine by Mark Hoffman. But when the audience was polled, they made their favorite clear: A Simple Machine. Jeffray Ikahn appreciated both films; with a lean into Hoffman’s raw, real and radical indie about a young man who goes off the grid.
Documentary Features
The panel of experts at Lighthouse International came to a tie on their choice for the awarded documentary feature. The Shepherd’s Keeper by Hadara Oren and Shuffle by Benjamin Flaherty. The audience agreed, selecting Shuffle as their choice for documentary feature.
