As if you needed another reason to visit the quaint New England island of Block Island, RI! Well, here’s another reason to add to the list of reasons to visit New Shoreham: the Block Island Film Festival! Scheduled for May 28th and 30th, 2025, the event will feature 54 amazing film screenings, produced by local filmmakers. As someone who is particularly interested in Grassroots Filmmaking, Jeffrey Ikahn is proud to feature the upcoming event.
Block Island Film Festival is a little bit of Hollywood in Rhode Island. Open to creations by filmmakers from the Ocean State, the Film Festival is all about grassroots independent filmmaking. As an independent American filmmaker himself, Jeffrey Ikahn is always seeking out film festivals of this kind. An opportunity for collaboration and networking, Block Island Film Festival is less about flaunting status and more about coming together to celebrate creation. And isn’t that what filmmaking is really all about? It certainly is on the grassroots side of things, where if you ask Ikahn: the grass really is greener!
Categories of films set to be screened at the Block Island Film Festival include Narrative Feature Film, Narrative Short Film, Narrative Student Short Film, Short Documentary and Feature Screenplay.
